RYE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GAMCO Investors, Inc. (NYSE:GBL) announced today that Christina L. Alfandary has re-joined the firm as Managing Director, ESG & Sustainable Investments. Ms. Alfandary will contribute to the firm’s nearly thirty year institutional SRI effort by further expanding their ESG capabilities and leadership in sustainable investing. The new role reflects the firm’s view that global economic drivers continue to be affected by resource scarcity and that client demand for ESG solutions will continue to grow.
GAMCO has a long history of working with Socially Responsive institutions and understands the needs, objectives and social mandates of these clients. Since focusing on SRI in 1987, the firm is approaching $1 billion in institutional portfolios, as well as an open-end mutual fund with that objective.
Commenting on Ms. Alfandary’s appointment, Christopher Desmarais, Managing Director, said, “This is a natural and logical extension of the work we have been doing in SRI for several decades. Christina is uniquely qualified for this position, given her prior experience in Environmental, Social and Governance investing. Her past tenure at GAMCO is an additional plus. Her wealth of knowledge and passion for ESG & Sustainable Investments will be instrumental in matching the requirements of all investors who are interested in people, the planet, and profits.”
Ms. Alfandary has over twenty-five years of experience in the investment business. Most recently, she was Co-Head of the Americas and Senior Managing Director for Nikko Asset Management Americas, Inc. While there she led initial asset raising efforts for ESG products from US investors, working closely with investment professionals, clients and their advisors. She joined Nikko AM from GAMCO Investors, where she focused on Institutional and High Net Worth marketing. Prior experience includes ten years at Morgan Stanley in Institutional Fixed Income Sales and Trading.
A native of California, Ms. Alfandary received an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia Business School after earning her B.A. from Lewis & Clark College.
GAMCO Investors, Inc., through its subsidiaries, manages private advisory accounts (GAMCO Asset Management Inc.), mutual funds and closed-end funds (Gabelli Funds, LLC). As of December 31, 2015, GAMCO had $38.7 billion in assets under management.
