Valley Presbyterian Hospital Receives $15K Grant

Wells Fargo Foundation awards funding for Emergency Department expansion project

VAN NUYS, Calif.--()--Valley Presbyterian Hospital (VPH) was awarded a $15,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation in support of the hospital’s $8.4 million Emergency Department renovation and expansion project.

“We are truly honored to receive grant funding and support from our partner, the Wells Fargo Foundation,” said Pegi Matsuda, VPH Foundation President & Senior Vice President of Community Development. “The Foundation’s commitment to strengthening communities is aligned with our mission to improve the quality of health in the San Fernando Valley. Funding from this grant will help our Emergency Department to serve the growing needs of patients and families, including many who lack access to critical and urgent medical care.”

VPH’s Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the San Fernando Valley with more than 66,000 patient visits each year. Over the past few years, the hospital’s Emergency Department patient volumes have increased significantly. To meet the region’s growing demand for emergency services now and in the future, VPH began construction to renovate and expand its Emergency Department in fall 2015.

Plans include adding 14,505 square feet of space, increasing the patient bed capacity from 24 to 34 beds, and modernizing patient and clinical areas to improve access, comfort and workflow. The project is scheduled to be completed over three years, and the Emergency Department will remain fully operational throughout construction to serve the community.

“Vital to our company’s culture is our commitment to philanthropy. We strive to build a culture of caring for one another, our customers, our communities, and our shareholders,” said Marla Clemow, Wells Fargo L.A. Metro Region President. “This donation reaffirms our unwavering commitment to help strengthen our communities.”

Established in 1993, the Wells Fargo Foundation provides financial support to organizations for community development, education, and human services.
