Fairchild Freight Selects ORBCOMM’s Cold Chain Monitoring Solution

Leverages dual-mode capability to enable continuous visibility and temperature compliance for its refrigerated cargo across remote areas of North America

ROCHELLE PARK, N.J.--()--ORBCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq:ORBC), a global provider of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, today announced that Fairchild Freight, a truckload carrier specializing in the transportation of consumer food commodities throughout North America, has selected ORBCOMM to provide its dual-mode cold chain telematics solution to track and monitor its refrigerated trailers. ORBCOMM will provide both satellite and cellular connectivity through state-of-the-art hardware and a web-based reporting platform for optimal fleet management.

Fairchild Freight will use ORBCOMM’s cold chain telematics solution to provide comprehensive temperature, fuel management and maintenance data for its refrigerated trailers. Leveraging ORBCOMM’s proven solution, Fairchild Freight will fully integrate the data with its proprietary back-office platform to optimize temperature compliance and asset utilization. In addition, Fairchild Freight will be one of the first customers to take advantage of ORBCOMM’s integration with PeopleNet’s fleet performance monitoring platform, providing Fairchild Freight visibility to more asset classes on one comprehensive platform.

“ORBCOMM’s dual-mode cold chain solution gives Fairchild Freight the best of both worlds for wireless connectivity to support their remote and mobile refrigerated operations – continuous coverage, complete visibility and optimal price,” said Marc Eisenberg, ORBCOMM’s Chief Executive Officer. “Whether Fairchild Freight’s trailers are traveling through the roughest terrain of North America or the arctic conditions of northern Yukon and Alaska, ORBCOMM ensures they will always know where their assets are and how they are operating.”

“ORBCOMM is the leader in cold chain telematics. Their ability to provide real-time access to critical temperature and operational data for our refrigerated trailers is second to none,” said Chris Rawls, Director of Logistics at Fairchild Freight. “By utilizing ORBCOMM’s solution, we can maintain the highest level of quality and integrity for our perishable cargo, which translates into providing best-in-class service for our customers, while enabling us to meet the requirements for the FDA’s upcoming Food Safety Modernization Act.”

Deployments began in the first quarter of 2016 and will continue throughout the second quarter of 2016.
