PROS Research Scientist Elected to Lead INFORMS Revenue Management, Pricing Section

HOUSTON--()--PROS (NYSE: PRO), the revenue and profit realization company, today announced that PROS Principal Research Scientist Darius Walczak, Ph.D., has been elected to serve as chair of the Revenue Management and Pricing (RMP) Section of INFORMS, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. INFORMS is the largest society for professionals in the field of operations research (O.R.), management science and analytics, with more than 12,000 members around the world.

Walczak is a long-time INFORMS member and has served on the RMP board, in addition to currently leading the RMP Section. He has co-chaired RMP events, and twice-served as judge for the RMP Practice Prize and the RMP Section Award. Walczak is an editorial board member of the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management, and regularly presents at national and international venues, including The Association of European Operational Journal Societies (EURO) and the Airline Group of the International Federation of Operations Research Societies (AGIFORS).

A 15-year PROS veteran, Walczak designs and deploys revenue management and pricing optimization solutions in a variety of industries. He and his team conduct research in stochastic optimization, data analysis and related fields, innovating on PROS platforms using data science-driven prescriptive analytics. His latest publications include the “Revenue Management” chapter in “Quantitative Problem Solving in the Airline Industry,” which he co-authored with E.A. Boyd and R. Cramer; and “Revenue Management for Fare Families with Price-Sensitive Demand,” which he co-authored with E. Kambour.

“It is a great honor to lead the INFORMS RMP Section and to work with this extraordinary team of thought leaders, practitioners and data scientists who share a passion for operations research and analytics,” said Walczak. “INFORMS provides educational and networking opportunities for professionals who are looking to expand their careers, accompanied by a broad range of resources available to members.

“The RMP Section, in particular, offers a great information exchange forum for practitioners and researchers,” noted Walczak. “We advance development of operations research approaches in the area of revenue management and pricing, and promote identifying new industries that can benefit, while retaining high professional standards. I appreciate the opportunity to participate and to continue to contribute to its long-term vision and success.”

Walczak earned a Ph.D. in business administration, with a specialty in operations and logistics, from the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, as well as a master’s degree in mathematics. He also holds a master’s degree in mathematics and engineering from Wroclaw University of Technology.
