Economist from Charles River Associates (CRA) Provides Expert Testimony at Trial for Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association

BOSTON--()--Charles River Associates (NASDAQ: CRAI), a worldwide leader in providing economic, financial, and management consulting services, today announced that CRA provided antitrust and competition economics analyses on behalf of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) to rebut claims by the Elite Rodeo Athletes (ERA) that PRCA bylaws denying membership to owners of competing rodeo associations were anticompetitive.

CRA consultants working on behalf of the PRCA analyzed economic issues related to competing rodeo associations and bylaws governing PRCA membership and events. CRA economist Andrew Dick provided written and trial testimony in U.S. District Court for the Northern Division of Texas in opposition to the ERA’s motion for a preliminary injunction barring the PRCA from implementing its recently enacted membership bylaws. CRA’s analyses demonstrated that the PRCA does not have market power with respect to professional rodeos and that the PRCA’s bylaws do not create a barrier to entry for competitors. The Court denied the ERA’s motion for a preliminary injunction, and the ERA subsequently withdrew their complaint.

“The economists at CRA provided timely and invaluable assistance throughout this antitrust lawsuit. Their analysis was critical to the ruling in favor of the PRCA,” said James Keyte, Partner in Antitrust and Competition of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates.

Vice President Andrew Dick and Associate Principal Matthew List led a team of CRA economists on the matter.
