Navigant Hires Healthcare Expert to Lead Strategic Solutions Team

Dr. Scott Ransom brings clinical and strategic insights to drive health systems’ future

CHICAGO--()--Navigant (NYSE: NCI) today announced the addition of Dr. Scott Ransom to lead its Strategic Solutions team as Managing Director. He will also lead the Navigant Physician Leadership Group, focused on physician executive integration and alignment. With more than 25 years of strategy, operations, and physician leadership experience, Dr. Ransom will assist Navigant clients to meet the challenge of shifting strategic focus in the changing healthcare environment.

Dr. Ransom has consulted with hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, physician groups, private equity firms, and universities on issues related to strategy development, organizational transformation, restructuring, medical education, clinical and research operations, mergers and acquisitions, academic affiliations, and management team redesign. His medical background enhances Navigant’s deep clinical expertise.

Dr. Ransom previously served as Senior Expert and Leader of the Southern Region for the Americas in the Healthcare Systems & Services practice at McKinsey & Company where he conducted multiple growth strategy studies to support expanded volumes, operations and transformations within health systems and academic medical centers. He also led several hospital, health system, and medical school mergers and partnerships in the United States, Mexico, Middle East, and Europe on behalf of McKinsey.

Previously, Dr. Ransom served as President and CEO of an academic health science center, Senior Vice President/Chief Quality Officer of an eight-hospital healthcare system, and hospital Vice President for Medical Affairs. He has been a faculty member of three universities, including the University of Michigan as a tenured Professor, where he has been a National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF) funded researcher. He has published over 100 articles, written 10 books, and has delivered over 4,000 babies as a practicing obstetrician.

Dr. Ransom is a Distinguished Fellow and a past President of the American College of Physician Executives (FACPE). He is also a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American College of Surgeons, and American College of Healthcare Executives. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Board of Medical Management, and Certifying Commission in Medical Management.

He holds a Master of Public Health degree (MPH) in clinical effectiveness from Harvard University School of Public Health, a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from University of Michigan Ross School of Business, and graduated from medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He earned an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Pacific Lutheran University and is a graduate of the United States Marine Corps Officer Candidate School.
