NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zazoom Media Group (ZMG), a leading digital video producer, announced today that it has named Greg Morey as Executive Vice President of Revenue. Morey, joins ZMG from The E.W. Scripps Company where he was a Vice President of Revenue for its Newsy brand. At ZMG, he will oversee development of new monetization platforms, including programmatic insertion of socially-driven content.
At E.W. Scripps, Morey was credited with leading the successful development of Newsy’s premium publisher network, enabling Newsy's programmatic monetization engines and programmatic ad delivery in Roku, Apple TV, Connected TV’s and terrestrial Television.
“When you have the opportunity to hire a proven leader who understands the digital media landscape, sees new opportunities to develop and distribute content and most importantly knows how to monetize that content, then bringing that person to ZMG simply makes sense,” said Tim Minton, Co-founder and CEO of ZMG.
“By bringing on Greg, ZMG is poised to attack the programmatic revenue, social media and data markets,” said Steve Charlier, President of ZMG. “His experience will add significant value to ZMG and our efforts for continued growth by creating and distributing digital video content for brands, advertisers and media.”
ZMG is a leading creator and distributor of digital video franchises across multiple platforms for news and lifestyle content uniquely suited for millennial audiences.
“When I look around the digital video space and the real players of our industry, I'm humbled that ZMG thought of me for this role,” said Morey. “I'm looking forward to growing ZMG in three distinct ways including: monetizing the stable of lifestyle video titles that bring millennials to large media brand sites; building a well-produced, monetized video lifestyle channel on Connected TV; and applying our technology to monetize social video with programmatic insertions.”
Morey continued, “Smarter digital video content solutions are what the most innovative media brands are in need of and ZMG already delivers that in a cost-effective, efficient manner. For publishers, ZMG content attracts younger audiences across social media. For advertisers, they can programmatically select just the audiences that fit the target. This is the winning formula for ZMG as it allows us to serve both our media and advertising clients. I’m excited to be scaling profitable opportunities again and for what lies ahead for ZMG.”
Prior to working for E.W. Scripps, Morey was the Director of Digital Operations for Tribune Broadcasting, where he was part of the team that separated the Digital Broadcast operations from the Digital Publishing operation. Morey innovated further by creating the Digital Marketing Services business, TRIB-X, enabling the broadcast group to offer SEO, SEM and Social channel development for their local TV clients. Morey shook things up by launching the “Ride Like a Rock Star” Sales Contest companywide where a brand new Mercedes-Benz was awarded to the seller of the largest deal. Fresh out of bankruptcy, that idea scared many at Tribune until it generated an 11-to-1 ROI.
Morey also held digital leadership roles with Gannett and Media General as well as entrepreneurial experience with three start-ups in syndication, Ad Hoc IP Networks, and Lifestyle Publishing.
