Former CIO of US Department of Defense to Discuss Identity as an Attack Vector at RSA Conference 2016

Teri Takai to Present 12pm Tuesday Session at Gurucul Booth #S2415

LOS ANGELES--()--

WHO:

Teri Takai, former Executive Vice President and the CIO for Meridian Health Plan and its affiliated companies, has also served as the US Department of Defense CIO where she provided strategy, leadership and guidance to create a unified information management and technology vision. Prior to her federal political appointment, Ms. Takai worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years. She has also served as CIO for the State of California, and was Director of the Michigan Department of Information Technology (MDIT) and CIO for the State of Michigan. She is currently on the board of First Net as well as a member of the technical advisory boards of Palo Alto Networks, Gurucul, and Haystax Technologies.

WHAT:

Identity intersects with virtually every data source within IT infrastructures, and is even more critical in cloud application environments. Despite this fact, many organizations still rely on declarative legacy roles and manual processes to manage identities which often results in excessive access risks making the detection of outlier activity difficult. It’s no surprise that the majority of external attacks use some form of identity compromise to evade detection by existing defenses. Identity abuse also enables insiders to operate under the radar to exfiltrate data. In this session Ms. Takai will explain:

-- Why identity is a now a security perimeter and should be treated as a threat plane

-- How the compromise and misuse of identities are the root cause of most data breaches

-- How to reduce identity as a threat plane using identity access intelligence data science

-- How insider threats and hijacked accounts can be detected using user behavior analytics (UBA)
