Mood Disorders Focus of New Rogers Program in Chicago

SKOKIE, Ill.--()--Young adults with mood disorders who would benefit from specialized outpatient care that is locally accessible can turn to a new program at Rogers Behavioral Health—Chicago opening February 1.

The Rogers FOCUS partial hospital program offers evidence-based treatment for young adults age 18 to 30 who have been struggling with depression, bipolar disorder or other mood disorders. In this program, these young adults will learn therapeutic tools that provide a way to manage harmful behaviors and engage more with life, work and family.

Behavioral activation, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy-informed skills are among the therapies employed. Treatment is offered six hours per day, five days a week days at Rogers’ Skokie, IL, location at 4711 Golf Road, Suite 600. Clinical psychologist Paula Young, PhD, who has extensive clinical, teaching and research experience related to CBT for depression and anxiety disorders, will supervise the program.

This programming represents a new level of care that Rogers just began offering last fall at its home base in Wisconsin. It is a natural outgrowth of the experience gained with the FOCUS young adult residential program created in 2014 to meet the special needs of young adults needing help as they transition to adulthood.

“We have learned a great deal with our initial FOCUS residential program, and know that a need in our communities exists for this additional level of specialized care,” says Karen Cassiday, PhD, clinical director for Rogers—Chicago. “We’re pleased to be able to add this to our services already in place.”

Rogers Behavioral Health—Chicago opened in July 2015 with services for treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders, and added treatment for adolescents with eating disorders in November 2015.

Screenings for potential admission to the FOCUS partial hospital program are available by calling 844-615-3222 or going online at www.rogersbh.org.
