Barrett-Jackson 45th Anniversary Auction Kicks off 2016 with Record Sales, Charity and Star-Studded Entertainment

  • Barrett-Jackson sold 1,469 vehicles for over $102 million (unaudited) in Scottsdale
  • Over 1,400 automobilia pieces sold for nearly $3 million including (Lot #9491.1) the 1950s Donald Duck neon porcelain parking lot entrance sign from Disneyland, which sold for $60,840

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--()--Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions®, kicked off its 45th anniversary year with their biggest event of 2016, achieving record car sales and charity auctions, as well as delivering star-studded entertainment from Jan. 23-31, 2016, at WestWorld of Scottsdale. During the automotive lifestyle event, 1,469 vehicles sold for over $102 million (unaudited) at a 99% sell-through rate and over 1,400 pieces of automobilia sold for nearly $3 million (unaudited) bringing the total sales to over $105 million. Approximately 350,000 people attended the 45th Anniversary Auction, including many of today’s most recognizable celebrities.

The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction gave bidders the chance to select from a wide range of American muscle, European classics, exotic sports cars and one-of-a-kind customs. The top cars sold in Scottsdale include:

Once again, charitable giving was a significant part of the auction action as 11 vehicles crossed the Scottsdale block, including the 2017 Acura NSX VIN #001. They cumulatively raised $3,406,000 to benefit local and national non-profit organizations. The charity cars auctioned at No Reserve were:

  • 2017 Acura NSX VIN #001 (Lot #3007) donated by Acura to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Camp Southern Ground - $1.2 million
  • 2016 Ford Focus RS (Lot #3009) donated by Ford for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - $550,000
    • Additional $10,000 donated by Michelle Mauzy.
  • 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS VIN #001 (Lot #3008) donated by GM to benefit Kettering University - $500,000
  • Chevrolet Camaro COPO GEN 6 VIN #001 (Lot #3005) donated by GM to benefit United Way - $300,000
  • 2000 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Truck (Lot #3006) donated by Ford to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - $200,000
  • 2012 Dodge Charger NASCAR Racecar (Lot #3002) to benefit the Paralyzed Veterans of America - $150,000
    • Additional $10,000 donated by the Damon family.
  • 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Military Tribute (Lot #3004) to benefit the Stephen Siller Foundation - $125,000
  • 1932 Ford Hi-Boy (Lot #3010) to benefit the Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts - $105,000
  • 2008 Mckinney Top Fuel Dragster (Lot #3000) to benefit B.R.A.K.E.S. Foundation – $100,000
  • 2015 JEEP Wrangler Custom (Lot #3001) to benefit CHILDHELP through SEMA Cares - $81,000
  • 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (Lot #3003) to benefit The Barrett-Jackson Cancer Fund At TGen In Memory of Russ and Brian Jackson - $75,000

Barrett-Jackson has raised over $88 million for local and national charities to date.

The 2016 Scottsdale auction included a variety of entertaining exhibits and attractions that included activities for the entire family. Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge conducted Ride ’N Drives and Thrill Rides in their latest vehicle line-up. Some of the hottest entertainers in the industry, as well as from the sports industry and corporate world were also in attendance; the list included Hollywood greats Michael Bay, Jay Leno, Burt Reynolds and Frankie Muniz, three-time Grammy Award-winners Zac Brown Band, Detroit rocker Ted Nugent; two-time masters champ Bubba Watson; pro rally driver Ken Block; NASCAR greats Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano; 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force; MLB players Marco Estrada, Jacoby Ellsbury and Paul Konerko; and NHL players Shane Doan and Mike Smith of the Arizona Coyotes, as well as Andrew Ladd of the Winnipeg Jets.

Velocity and Discovery Channel aired 37 hours of live auction coverage in Scottsdale.
