PITTSBURGH, Pa.--()--Seegrid, the pioneer and leader in vision-based autonomous industrial vehicles, today announced an expanded relationship with United Technologies Corporation, producer of high-technology systems and services for the aerospace and building industries, which is increasing its deployment of Seegrid’s vision guided vehicles (VGVs) in its facilities across the country. The rollout adds to Seegrid’s continued customer growth and advances the company's partnerships with leaders in the manufacturing and automotive industries. Daimler Trucks North America has long deployed Seegrid vehicles throughout its facilities.

Seegrid added 10 new customers and increased sales revenue by 100 percent in 2015. With demand growing for VGVs in the world’s largest and most complex shipping and manufacturing facilities, Seegrid is a critical component and strategic partner in helping companies prepare for the next generation of manufacturing.

“The 3D perception technology in Seegrid’s VGVs sets the intelligence standard for industrial guided vehicles,” said Michael Thompson, Lean Transformation Leader for United Technologies Corporation.

Thompson continued: “As the materials handling industry continues to adopt more robotic automation, Seegrid’s machine vision system gives us an important competitive advantage. VGVs from Seegrid have out-of-the-box functionality and can be safely deployed across our operations without the need for any reengineering or infrastructure upgrades. As a result of our initial success, we’ve expanded our use of Seegrid’s technology, deploying its VGVs across additional facilities to support our manufacturing needs.”

“Seegrid VGVs are the medium-duty automated solution of choice within Daimler Trucks North America production facilities,” said Jeremy Tyger, Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Daimler Trucks North America. “We chose Seegrid because the vision technology does not require infrastructure for navigation. Vision guided tow tractors allow Daimler Trucks North America to reduce labor costs and provide a safer work environment for team members.”

Seegrid, the sole manufacturer of vision-enabled autonomous vehicles, is uniquely positioned to help customers grow their business with deployment of VGVs that augment workflow and improve safety, flexibility, and efficiency.

“We are thrilled to partner with some of today’s most innovative Fortune 500 companies that are leading the transformation within the manufacturing and materials handling industry,” said Jim Rock, CEO of Seegrid. “By employing our technology, these companies not only improve workplace safety, but they also generate efficiencies, increase productivity, and reduce labor and operating costs. These companies join us as leaders in the new industrial revolution, and we can’t wait to see what we can do together next.”

With the materials handling industry poised for a massive shift in the automation of its workflow, Seegrid is proud to lead the industry by working with customers to stay ahead of the trends. With its revolutionary vision guided technology, Seegrid helps new customers become leading innovators in their own industries – including retail, automotive, and manufacturing.
