Launched with 64,000 registrants last year, hack.summit() is both the world’s largest virtual event of any kind, and the largest event for programmers in history. Leaders who have made significant computer science contributions will join hands, take a stand for charitable causes, and educate the world for free in a virtual stage.
All ticket sales from the event are donated to coding nonprofits, who have allied behind this event. Nonprofits include Code.org, Women Who Code, Code for America, Black Girls Code, and many more. Last year’s event raised $50,000 for nonprofits; this year’s hack.summit() is expected to raise exponentially more.

The hackathon is an opportunity for developers to both to win their share of a $150,000 prize pool, and to “hack for good” as their programming efforts will help raise money for coding nonprofits. Over 30,000 developers have pre-registered for the hackathon from over 900 cities, making this the largest hackathon in history. Koding.com is organizing and powering this hackathon, and has agreed to subsidize the infrastructure costs to help nonprofits in the coding space.
