AEP Appalachian Power to Offer Tennessee Customers Home Repair Service Plans Through HomeServe USA

KINGSPORT, Tenn.--()--Kingsport Power, doing business as AEP Appalachian Power a unit of American Electric Power (AEP), has announced the launch of an exterior electric line repair service plan, powered by HomeServe USA, a leading provider of home repair solutions. Beginning the week of Nov. 23, HomeServe will be mailing information about the optional offer to residential customers. HomeServe is also offering the service to Appalachian Power customers in Virginia and West Virginia.

The initial service offering to AEP Appalachian Power customers will be Exterior Electric Line coverage. Under this plan, participants are covered for repairs on the customer owned exterior electrical equipment that connects to the AEP Appalachian Power electric system and are provided local licensed electricians to perform the work. Residential customers will also have access to other repair service plans, including interior electrical lines, heating and cooling systems, and water heater repairs.

“AEP Appalachian Power is pleased to have entered this partnership with HomeServe, which will provide our customers with financial support and quality service when an unexpected repair event arises,” said David Nance of AEP Appalachian Power. “Currently, AEP has partnerships with HomeServe in six other states, and homeowners have been very pleased with the service they have received.”

Affordable service plans available through HomeServe provide customers a better way to fund and address the expense and inconvenience of home repair emergencies. Many homeowners are not aware that these types of repairs are not typically covered by most basic homeowner’s insurance policies leaving them unprepared.

“Time and again we learn that homeowners were surprised by the cost associated with electrical problems after a repair was made,” said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. “These optional service plans offer AEP Appalachian Power customers a solution to help pay for the repair, while providing a reputable team of local contractors to get the job done.”

The Exterior Electric Line Plan is available now for $4.99/month. For convenience, HomeServe service plans can be billed directly through customers’ AEP Appalachian Power bill. Customers are not required to participate in the offering.

With this coverage, customers will receive:

  • 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, repair service hotline
  • Repairs performed by local, licensed electricians
  • One-year guarantee on all covered repairs

Customers can learn more about HomeServe’s optional repair plans by visiting www.HomeServeUSA.com or calling 1-844-874-4446 for more information. Information will also be distributed in mailings made to customers.
