SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Asteres Inc., the industry’s leading provider of automated kiosks for prescription pickup and consumer product sales in retail, hospital, and DOD/Veterans Administration pharmacies, announced today their installation at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD. Rapid City Regional Hospital is a 417 bed hospital and was looking for ways to free up pharmacy staff to better serve the prescription needs of their discharge patients. The ScriptCenter kiosk at Rapid City Regional Hospital is the first in South Dakota and will service the prescription and OTC needs of the 2,600 employees and their dependents at the hospital.

To accomplish this goal, Rapid City Regional Hospital turned to Asteres to implement a ScriptCenter kiosk for 24/7 express prescription and OTC pickup. The hospital is currently using ScriptCenter for their employee prescriptions, but plan on expanding the program to include discharge prescriptions in the future. Rapid City Regional Hospital obtained approval from the Board of Pharmacy for the use of ScriptCenter in South Dakota in September, 2015 and the system was ready for go-live just three weeks later.
By creating a convenient prescription and OTC pickup point, Rapid City Regional Health is able to increase access to employee and discharge prescriptions. “We firmly believe that increased access to prescriptions leads to better adherence and a healthier, happier patient.”
How it works:
1. Employees order prescriptions by calling the Rapid City Regional Hospital outpatient pharmacy.
2. Prescriptions are filled and verified by Rapid City Regional Hospital pharmacy staff and then loaded into ScriptCenter.
3. Employees can pick up and pay for their prescriptions and OTC’s anytime!
