NEW YORK--()--E Ink® Holdings, "E Ink" (8069.TW), the leading innovator of electronic ink technology in the world, is proud to have been named as a CES 2016 Innovation Award Honoree for the Joan Meeting Room Assistant (Joan) by Visionect, one of the company’s close development partners. Joan was selected in the Eco-Design and Sustainable Technologies product category. The distinction recognizes the value delivered by Joan’s system design and integration that significantly reduces the impact on the environment. Visionect’s expertise in product design paired with E Ink’s ultra-low power displays shows that eco-friendly products can still deliver leading edge functionality.

Joan is an eco-designed digital door label and meeting room scheduling solution that includes an interactive touch interface. It has been designed from the bottom up for labeling and managing meeting rooms, which results in out-of-the-box support for standard office calendars, including, Office 365, Exchange or Google Apps. Due to E Ink’s low power electronic screen, Joan can last as long as three months on a single battery charge.

Office equipment is the fastest growing energy user in the business world, consuming 15 percent of total electricity use in offices. This figure is expected to double by 2020, as reported by Carbon Trust. Meeting room door signs are no exception.

“Unlike the LCD-based room labelling solutions, ePaper running on the Visionect Platform features minimal power consumption, about only 1 percent of that of an LCD, resulting in extreme energy savings when using Joan,” explained Matej Zalar, CEO of Visionect, Joan’s developer.

“E Ink is thrilled to receive this recognition at CES for its continuous innovation and focus on developing new markets and opportunities for signage applications,” said Harit Doshi, head of the Signage Business Unit for E Ink. “We are excited to partner with Visionect in bringing Joan, an innovative meeting room signage solution to market.”

Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding consumer electronics products across 27 product categories. Products chosen as CES Innovation Award Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.

The Joan conference room system will be displayed at CES 2016, which runs January 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. A selection of Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled New York, which features dozens of exhibitors and networking opportunities and runs 4:30-7:30 p.m. November 10, 2015 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.
