BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Envelop VR, an enterprise software company that is leading businesses and consumers to virtual reality, has recently hired J.J. Hoesing as its Principal Software Engineer and John Root as its Director of Developer Relations. The hires come at a significant time as the company gears up for its initial product launch in the coming months.
Hoesing has been tasked to lead the production efforts for what will be one of Envelop’s initial product offerings, a software tool kit that enables developers to create virtual reality content while working within their immersive, VR headset. With more than 20 years of professional graphics and real-time simulation experience, J.J. understands the challenges that VR developers are currently faced with. Prior to joining Envelop, J.J. was a VR engineer at Epic Games, and worked on PS4, Xbox One and Android platform engineering for Unreal Engine 4. He also architected and developed real-time simulation, graphics and tool technologies at Monolith Productions, Snowblind Studios and Microsoft, contributing to projects such as No One Lives Forever 2, Tron 2.0, and multiple Lord of the Rings titles.
“I believe VR will be revolutionary for content creation, collaboration and learning,” said Hoesing. “Done right, I think that VR will amplify interactions with other people rather than being an isolating experience. I’m thrilled to be working on the tools that will help make these possibilities a reality.”
A pillar of the immersive technologies community, Root is one of the co-founders of the Virtual Reality Foundation, a non-profit organization responsible for putting on such events as VRLA and the Proto Awards, which honors pioneering work in virtual reality. As Envelop’s new Director of Developer Relations, John will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relations on behalf of Envelop and its software products with a community he is so passionate about. A pioneer in his own right, John has nearly 25 years of experience making games and movies, and working in the fields of motion capture, scanning, virtual production and VR. Most recently he was the motion capture lead at Magic Leap, and previous to that he worked for Epic Games, iD Software, Disney, Magic Leap and Midway Games.
“As a motion capture guy, I’ve been using virtual reality for years,” said Root. “Bringing Envelop’s software tools to the developer community is going to move the industry so far along, and drastically increase the productivity and quality of content developed.”
“I’m thrilled that J.J. and John have joined the Envelop team,” said Bob Berry, Envelop VR co-founder and CEO. “They both have incredible expertise and knowledge that are going to advance our products and get them in the hands of the people that need them most.”
