LUXEMBOURG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intelsat S.A. (NYSE: I), the world’s leading provider of satellite services, today announced that Brian Jakins has been named as the company’s Regional Vice President of Sales in Africa, effective immediately. Mr. Jakins will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa and report to Jean-Philippe Gillet, Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
With over two decades of experience in the technology sector, including services to enterprises and mobile operators, Mr. Jakins will lead Intelsat’s African sales team and support the growth of Intelsat’s broadband, mobility and media customers operating in the region. He will also be responsible for the design and implementation of the company’s sales strategy and business development across Africa.

Prior to joining Intelsat, Mr. Jakins served as the Vice President of Sales and Services Africa at Aviat Networks, a leading global provider of microwave networking solutions. During his tenure, Aviat Networks expanded its geographic footprint and revenues showed significant growth in the African region. Mr. Jakins has also held senior sales management positions of increasing responsibility at companies such as Alcatel-Lucent, Siemens Telecommunications and Wireless Data Services South Africa.
