Axway Supports “Appathon 2015 by UniCredit“

Participants throughout Europe Compete in Annual Hackathon to Help Drive Banking Innovation

PARIS--()--Strong technological capabilities become crucial for banks as they seek to provide innovative customer experiences in today’s digital age. The client-centric approach is not only about responding to customer needs by offering immediate payments via smartphones, but also anticipating other needs with additional digital services. Axway (Paris:AXW) (Euronext: AXW.PA) a market leader in governing the flow of data, partners with Appathon 2015 by UniCredit in Italy to support the API-based Hackathon driving technology innovation for the banking sector.

The Appathon, organized by UniCredit, is dedicated to developers, Web designers and financial services marketing specialists. The event will take place in Italy, Germany and Austria on November 7-8, with a 24-hour, non-stop focus on banking innovation.

Participants will be challenged in:

  • Identifying solutions for which mobile banking can be integrated with the most relevant social networks, taking into consideration privacy policy limitations that protect sensitive and personal information from being exposed publicly. Also generating ideas that could increase customer engagement when using mobile banking apps.
  • Enriching the current mobile payment experience by developing operational functionalities for smart watches (like Apple Watch).

In Italy, developers will have access to UniCredit API infrastructure, loaded on an external playground with fake data, and API management solutions sponsored by Axway.

“We believe that the future of digital business relies on APIs as they offer new strategic business opportunities. Their impact on mobile strategies is significant for organizations, especially for banks looking at constantly offering new services available via mobile channels and becoming more competitive. We are delighted to partner with Appathon 2015 by UniCredit in Italy and share our expertise in API Management with young professionals passionate in their use of new technologies,” said Giulio Ballarini, Senior Sales Director, Italy at Axway.

To thrive in the API economy, banks need an enterprise-grade API management architecture and API analytics, with the security to protect sensitive data, control access and support integration to a wide range of on-premises and cloud-based applications.

Axway provides first-class API Management expertise and solution recognized recently as a “Leader” in KuppingerCole’s “Leadership Compass for API Security Management” report.1 The report examined various vendors’ capabilities within the API security management market and Axway was positioned among the Leaders within all four API security management leadership categories.
