Penny Dreadful: Demimonde Mobile Game Released in Time for Halloween, Based on Hit TV Series from SHOWTIME®

A new, spellbinding puzzle and collectible card game is available for Apple iTunes and Google Play starting today

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Just in time for Halloween, Midverse Studios, a Silicon Valley mobile gaming developer, in conjunction with its publishing partner, Ever Dead Studios, announced today the general availability of Penny Dreadful: Demimonde, based on the hit SHOWTIME television series Penny Dreadful.

Penny Dreadful: Demimonde, developed under license by CBS Consumer Products and SHOWTIME, allows fans of the show to engage with their favorite characters and content from the series in ways that complement and enhance the overall Dreadful experience.

“The gothic look and horror themes in Penny Dreadful are a perfect fit for a game released during the Halloween season,” says Rizwan Virk, co founder and CEO of Midverse Studios. “We have tested this game with fans of Penny Dreadful and fans of Card Battle games, and so far players have been thrilled. The graphics, user experience, and gameplay allow the player to feel they are entering the dark and mysterious world of the Demimonde, a half world between reality and the supernatural introduced in the series.”

Penny Dreadful includes some of literature’s most terrifying characters, including Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, Dorian Gray, Mina Harker and other iconic figures from the novel Dracula, all of whom are available as collectible cards in Penny Dreadful: Demimonde.

This fast-paced game, with visual elements and cards inspired by the TV show, combines several popular methods of game play into a single integrated gaming experience. The gameplay includes a core Card Battle “player vs. player” mode, which allows players to battle one another using their team of characters and monsters. Players earn cards from quests that are built on the popular Match 3 mechanic, and then complete collections of cards. Characters, artifacts, and locations from the unique, visually appealing show are featured prominently in the game.

Quests inside the game are based on individual episodes of the show, resulting in a unique “Play and Watch” experience. As players complete quests for an episode on their mobile devices, they can easily link to and watch that episode directly on Apple iTunes or Google Play.

Penny Dreadful: Demimonde is built on Midverse’s Undead Engine, which can be used to bring characters, content and storyline from popular IPs, including sci-fi, horror and fantasy, and mold them into an engaging mobile gaming format.
