Stanford Health Care Introduces a New Medicare Advantage Offering for Medicare Beneficiaries in Santa Clara County

Medicare coverage including additional benefits, trusted care and expertise, and the leading innovation of Stanford Medicine now available with Stanford Health Care Advantage

STANFORD, Calif.--()--Stanford Health Care is announcing it will offer a new Medicare Advantage plan this October for seniors living in Santa Clara County. Medicare beneficiaries can enroll in the Stanford Health Care Medicare Advantage plan during the federally regulated annual enrollment period from October 15 to December 7, with benefits effective January 1, 2016.

“At Stanford Health Care Advantage, we take a relationship-based approach to care that’s beyond what patients might expect from other health care providers. We strive to provide excellent coordinated care and services for each patient,” said Dr. Thomas R. Williams, Vice President and General Manager of Accountable Care Operations and Strategy at Stanford Health Care. “When we first set out to create the Stanford Health Care Advantage plan, we wanted to offer seniors care from some of the most well-known names in complex and primary care in the Bay Area, and we are pleased to be able to offer them a plan and network based on the right care for them.”

Stanford Health Care Advantage plan members will also have the assistance of Stanford member care specialists to walk them through their benefits, plan options, and services, seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. “Our member care specialists have vast experience working with seniors, and are committed to making sure our plan members understand the options and what benefits are available to them,” said Call Center supervisor Sergio H. Cruz. “Our goal is to get our Advantage plan members what they need with one phone call and make sure they are getting the highest quality of service from Stanford Health Care and its affiliated provider network.”

According to 2015 figures released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, nearly one in three Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, or Medicare Part C, as it is sometimes referred to in the menu of Medicare offerings. Medicare beneficiaries often choose Medicare Advantage plans because they offer more coverage and additional services than original Medicare, and some Medicare supplement plans. Medicare Advantage plans offer more predictability in out-of-pockets costs for seniors.
