CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. & RESTON, Va.--()--Comprehensive Health Services, Inc. opened the first privately operated NATO medical clinic in Kosovo at Camp Novo Selo (Camp Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny) in September. The contract award is the company’s first NATO contract and represents expansion to a new international market for the Cape Canaveral-based company. Comprehensive Health Services President Gary Palmer and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for International Operations Casper Jones III were joined by local dignitaries and representatives from 12 NATO countries for the official ribbon cutting on Sept. 1.

On this contract, Comprehensive Health Services has partnered with ITBM Healthcare, a division of ITBM Group, and a leading support services company in Kosovo. Together, Comprehensive Health Services and ITBM will provide medical care to 750 NATO Kosovo Force (KFOR) members. Medical services include first aid and immediate lifesaving, as well as preventive health measures, minor health issues, triage, a dispensing pharmacy, and preparation for medical evacuation when needed. Services also include an in-camp ambulance capacity.

Palmer noted that Comprehensive Health Services is honored to have been selected by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), the Premier Procurement Agency of NATO, as its medical services provider at Camp Novo Selo and welcomes the opportunity to deliver the highest quality medical personnel and services to the NATO personnel stationed at the camp.

The KFOR has been leading a peace-support operation in Kosovo since June 1999. Initially established when NATO’s 78-day campaign against the Milosevic regime ended, the KFOR aimed at putting an end to violence in Kosovo. Currently, there are approximately 4,500 troops from the NATO-led KFOR, provided by 31 countries, continuing to work toward maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all citizens and communities in Kosovo.
