Wireless Hall of Fame Celebration Honors Four Industry Leaders

LAS VEGAS--()--Tuesday night four individuals joined the 44 wireless industry pioneers and innovators inducted into the prestigious Wireless Hall of Fame. Hosted by the nonprofit Wireless History Foundation (WHF), this celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas honored John P. Kelly of Berkshire Partners, Sue Swenson of FirstNet, Larry Movshin of Wilkinson Barker & Knauer, and Brian McAuley of pdvWireless. These leaders were recognized for their extraordinary service to wireless communications at the annual dinner attended by 270 industry supporters from across the country. The event shared video highlights of their respective careers and the honorees were introduced by colleagues instrumental to their careers.

  • John Kelly – former chief executive of Crown Castle who played a major role in consolidation of the infrastructure industry. Kelly was introduced by WHF board member Charlie Townsend of Aloha Partners.
  • Sue Swenson – the chair of FirstNet and former executive of Pactel Cellular, Cellular One of the Bay Area, Leap Wireless and T-Mobile. Swenson was introduced by Wireless Hall of Fame member George Schmitt of xG Technology.
  • Larry Movshin – a communications attorney instrumental in the early cellular licensing process. Movshin was introduced by Wireless Hall of Fame member John Stanton of Trilogy Partnership.
  • Brian McAuley – the co-founder of Nextel Communications and the founder of NeoWorld. McAuley was introduced by Wireless Hall of Fame member Morgan O’Brien and special guest Governor Jack Markell of Delaware.

“The achievements of these individuals represent many aspects of the wireless industry,” said WHF Board member Rob Mechaley, CEO of Mobilesphere Holdings LLC, and Chairman of the 2015 selection committee. “We are honored to have this prestigious group join the growing Wireless Hall of Fame.”
