Media Advisory: American Legion National Commander to Speak at GWOT Monument on 9/11

WHO:

  Dale Barnett, National Commander of the 2.2 million member American Legion
 

WHAT:

National Commander Barnett, of Douglasville, Ga., will be a guest speaker at the Global War on Terrorism Monument at American Legion Post 35 in Hampton, New Hampshire.
The monument includes the names of fallen military servicemembers from the Granite State, who have made the Supreme Sacrifice while on military duty since 9/11. Also speaking will be New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan, local Iraq and Afghanistan War veteran Chris Zigler and Post 35 Commander G. Berkley Bennett.
National Commander Barnett will also be leading a public “Awareness Walk for Veterans,” which will depart from American Legion Sweeney Post 2 in Manchester at 10:20 a.m. on Sept. 12. The awareness walk will not only remind the public of the sacrifices made by veterans to keep the nation free, but it will also raise money for The American Legion National Emergency Fund, which provides relief for Legionnaires and family members impacted by natural disasters.
