BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Constellation today announced that it is accepting applications for its 2015 E2 Energy to Educate Grants program. Since its inception in 2010, the program has provided over $1.8 million in funding for student projects that have enhanced the understanding of energy-related science and technology issues for an estimated 88,000 students.
Students in grades six through 12 can apply for program grants up to $25,000; students in two- and four-year colleges can apply for up to $50,000. Applications are now being accepted, and the deadline for submissions is Oct. 1, 2015.
"Education and creativity are essential for developing the solutions required to create a greener energy future,” said Joseph Nigro, CEO of Constellation. "We’re proud to support research and education programs that help prepare students for the energy opportunities that lie ahead and to build the science, math and technology skills they need to be successful in any career.”
In 2014, the program awarded $340,000 and reached nearly 7,000 students nationwide. The student projects included developing demand response technologies, model electric vehicle competitions, renewable energy and energy efficiency analysis, and many other topics.
To qualify for an E2 grant, a project must be team-oriented and reach a minimum of 100 students.
