ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the fourth consecutive year, Ingenious Med, provider of the nation’s premier patient encounter platform One by Ingenious Med (IM1), challenged its team to lead a healthier lifestyle. Equipped with Fitbits and additional online resources, all of Ingenious Med’s employees took on the call-to-action to log at least 10,000 steps per day during a 100-day period.
Participating employees walked a combined 143.5 million steps in 100 days. That number is up by nearly 60 million compared to steps taken in the 2014 challenge. Carl Pearson, an Ingenious Med software engineer, logged an average of 40,000 steps per day and earned recognition as the company’s top stepper. Pearson suffered a heart attack a few years ago and appreciates his employer’s efforts to put employee health at the forefront of its business.
“It’s easy to put exercising and eating well on the backburner when you’re balancing full-time work responsibilities, but Ingenious Med’s Thrive Challenge makes living a healthy lifestyle much more attainable,” said Pearson. “The camaraderie you develop with employees who share a common goal is motivational. I did laps in our parking garage every day during lunch to stay in the game.”
In addition to providing Fitbits, Ingenious Med worked with Atlanta’s Good Measure Meals and Humana’s Weight Watcher program to offer additional nutrition resources and exercise tips for employees.
“Our Thrive Challenge has become more than a fun competition among our team; it’s truly a staple of our company culture,” said Hart Williford, CEO and president of Ingenious Med. “As a healthcare technology company, it’s vital to foster an environment where our employees are empowered to lead healthier lifestyles. Happier, healthier employees have a positive impact throughout our company and on our customers.”
