Houston Football, Boingo Expand Wireless Services at TDECU Stadium

Enhanced cellular access, upgraded Wi-Fi now available at home of Houston Football

HOUSTON--()--The University of Houston Department of Athletics announced Thursday that Boingo Wireless (NASDAQ: WIFI), the official wireless internet provider for TDECU Stadium, will enhance its wireless service at the Cougars’ home facility for the start of the 2015 season.

Boingo’s Distributed Antenna System (DAS) network, which will provide fast, reliable cellular coverage and data capacity throughout the 40,000-seat TDECU Stadium, will be leveraged by T-Mobile starting this summer. Through its access contract, T-Mobile will extend TDECU Stadium cellular access to subscribers as part of their existing mobile data plans. Boingo’s DAS network features a neutral host design to support multiple carriers, ensuring maximum coverage for Houston fans.

Timed to the start of the 2015 season, Boingo has also expanded the Wi-Fi network at the stadium to include the stadium Level 1 party decks and Bert F. Winston Band Complex. The company already operates Wi-Fi services at all entrances, all suites, loge boxes and concession areas, the Club Lounge and the press box.

“Boingo’s wireless network upgrades and carrier relationships are keeping the TDECU Stadium at the leading edge of stadium technology,” Houston Vice President for Athletics Hunter Yurachek said. “We are committed to offering Houston Football fans the best experience possible on game day and beyond.”

Boingo is a leading provider of small cell and Wi-Fi networks at large universities, major league stadiums and airports, including Chicago’s Soldier Field, University of Arizona’s Arizona Stadium, the Air Force Academy’s Falcon Stadium, Nebraska Basketball’s Pinnacle Bank Arena and more than 50 airports across the globe.

Visitors to the Fan Experience Headquarters during non-event days will have the opportunity to tour TDECU Stadium and experience the views from seats available to purchase. Houston fans will also have access to a personal dedicated phone extension and a member retention specialist to handle renewals.

Houston fans can call or text Fan Experience Headquarters by phone, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at 713-462-6647 and can purchase tickets online 24/7 at UHCougars.com/tickets.

The Houston Cougars Fan Experience Committee is designed to provide Houston fans a voice in how the fan experience can be improved and how fans are affected by the current fan experience.

Throughout the 2014-15 year, Houston Athletics partnered with Lancaster Market Intelligence to survey Houston Football season ticket members with fan experience changes occurring for the 2015-16 year based off the survey results. With the creation of the Houston Cougars Fan Experience Committee, fans will always have a voice!

Houston fans interested in joining the committee, should submit their information at UHCougars.com/fans. Members will be asked to serve a two-year term with quarterly meetings on or around the UH campus.

Houston Athletics will be releasing new information on changes to the fan experience at home events over the next six weeks. Check UHCougars.com for updates throughout the summer and leading up to kickoff.
