Freedom Boat Club Franchise Growth on the Rise

VENICE, Fla.--()--Freedom Boat Club, the nation’s largest and oldest boat club with 10,000 members in 19 states, has recently announced a dozen new franchise clubs in locations coast-to-coast.

Huntington Beach, CA is the newest franchise and the second launch for the brand in California over the past 18 months, with the first in San Diego.

“The Huntington Beach opening drew a lot of horsepower to the club,” said Freedom Boat Club President and CEO John Giglio. “Based on the membership growth of San Diego and the solid response to our new location, we are targeting continued expansion throughout the west coast.”

On the east coast, New Smyrna Beach, FL opened a franchise club in June, joining the 30+ clubs already operating successfully in the Sunshine State.

“New Smyrna Beach is a complement to our existing Daytona Beach club which doubled in size its first year,” said franchise owner Bobby Parker. “Besides attracting more locals, this club will be a top draw for the Greater Orlando market whose boaters come to the coast for their boating and fishing activity.”

Freedom Boat Club’s successful private boat club model - which provides reciprocal access to 850 boats nationwide - offers a simple alternative to boat ownership. Due to its easy access to the water, free training and affordable membership plans, the club attracts a mix of newcomers and seasoned boaters alike who opt for the convenience and cost savings that club membership offers.

“The sharing economy and collaborative consumption trend is alive and well in the boat club sector as we continue to experience record-setting franchise and membership growth nationwide,” said Giglio. “From existing club owners who are expanding, to all-new locations, we’re expecting to reach our 100-club franchise milestone goal this year.”

Other 2015 franchise launches include Fort Lauderdale, Stuart and Deerfield Beach, FL, along with Brick, NJ, St. Joseph, MI and Huron, OH. New clubs confirmed to open either later this summer or for the 2016 season include Lake George, NY, Deep River, CT, Miami, FL and a second corporate-club location in Ft. Myers Beach, FL.

“We are aggressively pursuing new opportunities for franchise development,” said Giglio. “We have also received inquiries from Canada and abroad, so international expansion is also very likely in our future.”
