New York City Records Nearly 5% Construction Project Growth in Q2 2015

BidClerk Construction Index Reveals $9.6 Billion in Contract Value

CHICAGO--()--The greater New York City region recorded nearly 5 percent project growth in the number of projects released for bid in the second quarter of 2015 compared to the same time period in 2014.

According to the BidClerk Construction Index (BCI), a quarterly report from BidClerk, a leading provider of construction project data, projects released for bid in the second quarter of 2015 had a combined contract value of $9.6 billion. There were over 260 private projects and more than 2,300 public projects released for bid during that same time period. Areas in the report included New York, N.Y. and Newark, N.J.

New York City high profile projects out for bid in the second quarter were:

  • The Green at Florham Park
    • Construction of a $70 million, 457,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Florham Park, N.J.
    • Sharp Management, general contractor, and Marchetto Higgins Stieve, architect
  • Secaucus Middle/High School
    • A $21 million addition and interior renovation of a school in Secaucus, N.J.
    • Dobco, Inc., general contractor, and Di Cara Rubino Architects, architect

Nationally, BidClerk reported on more than 75,000 new projects valued at over $188 billion in the second quarter of 2015. According to BCI data from the second quarter of 2014, there were nearly 60,000 projects with an estimated value of $148 billion.
