Colorado Cleantech Industries Association Accepting Applications for the 2nd Annual Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge

GOLDEN, Colo.--()--The Colorado Cleantech Industries Association (CCIA) is now accepting applications for the second annual Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge (OGCC), a product innovation showcase and competition in Denver, September 2, 2015.

In continued support of a collaborative approach to lessen the environmental impact of energy generation and development, CCIA is hosting the second annual OGCC on September 2, 2015. As the oil and natural gas industry has evolved, concerns about resource usage, air and water quality and operational risk have followed. Through the OGCC, CCIA brings together innovative early-stage companies and industry leaders such as Noble Energy, Encana and ConocoPhillips to identify technology solutions for these challenges.

As noted by the Cleantech Group, “against the backdrop of a boom in unconventional fuels, an increasing number of start-ups are developing solutions to both decrease operational risk and reduce the environmental footprint of the oil and natural gas industry.” Even with the drop in oil prices and company downsizing, the OGCC’s oil and gas partners continue to be committed to identifying and partnering with the cleantech community.

“The Oil and Gas Cleantech Challenge aligns with our mission as an association dedicated to the implementation of clean technologies as a solution for pressing industry concerns,” said Chris Shapard, CCIA’s Executive Director. “Our oil and gas partners and early-stage presenters were pleased with the 2014 OGCC and we look forward to providing another win-win program to the technology innovators and thought leaders in the oil and natural gas industry in September.”

The application process is now open for cleantech companies to showcase their innovative products and technologies. Specific categories have been identified as presenting the greatest opportunities for improvements in oil and natural gas operations. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles
  • The digital oilfield/Internet of Things
  • Items to reduce truck traffic
  • Space saving items to reduce footprint
  • Plant or biological solutions
  • Air and water technologies
  • Remote and distributed power
  • Power management
  • Advanced materials
  • Chemicals

Interested cleantech companies will enter a competitive vetting process, after which 10-12 companies will be invited to present their technologies to the oil and natural gas partners. Apply today, http://coloradocleantech.com/oilgaschallenge/.
