SANTA MONICA, Calif.--()--On the occasion of its 10th Anniversary, k9 connection’s Founders Katherine Beattie and Pat Sinclair, together with OPCC Executive Director John Maceri, proudly announce that Jane Lynch, the acclaimed actress, singer and comedian (GLEE), will join k9 connection as an Honorary Patron.

Jane Lynch will serve as an Honorary Patron together with the founding Patron, Roger Daltrey, rock star and philanthropist, and Rebecca Rothstein, noted Los Angeles-based financial adviser.

Founded in 2005, k9 connection's intensive programs in Los Angeles area continuation high schools pair teens in at-risk environments with homeless shelter dogs. Bonding with and training the dogs enables the teens to find self esteem, self determination and empathy while they in turn enable the dogs to develop the skills to be adopted into permanent loving homes. k9 operates with a small staff and a team of devoted volunteers led by Project Director Juliet Beynon. k9 is a project of OPCC (Ocean Park Community Center), the largest, most comprehensive nonprofit social services agency on the Westside of Los Angeles.

Said Jane Lynch, “The folks at k9 sent me their promotional film about the great work of this organization, with both at risk teens and shelter dogs; they had me at the halfway mark in the film and I was crying at the end. This brings together two things I truly love, young people and dogs. I am so excited to become involved.” (www.youtube.com/user/k9connection/featured)

Roger Daltrey, lead singer of The Who, said, “I was drawn to this project when Pat and Katherine started it ten years ago because of its mission of care and commitment to young people. Pete (Townshend) and I have always sought to support teenagers, not least because they supported us and our music! I am delighted that Jane is joining me as a Patron and look forward to helping this amazing group at k9 connection fulfill another ten years of service.”

On behalf of k9 connection John Maceri said, “As well as all of her wonderful work as an actress, singer and comedian, Jane has been tireless in helping young people, and very involved in humane animal projects. We are excited that she will be bringing her spirit and support to our team. I cannot think of a more wonderful way to celebrate k9’s tenth year of operation.”

k9 connection will celebrate its tenth anniversary at its annual summer festival in Santa Monica at Clover Park on Saturday, June 27, 2015. It carries on its work year round in schools and facilities in Santa Monica and West Los Angeles.

In addition, the k9 founders are actively mentoring projects starting up around the world using the knowledge and experience built up in this OPCC pilot program.
