Truven Health Analytics Awarded Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing Business Intelligence and Data Management Services Contract Worth $86M

Project Will Include Decision Support System (DSS), Data Warehouse, and Statewide Data and Analytics Contractor (SDAC) Services

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--()--Truven Health AnalyticsTM, a leading provider of healthcare data and analytics solutions and services, has been awarded an $86M contract by the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) to provide Business Intelligence and Data Management (BIDM) services.

Under this five-year base contract with HCPF, Truven Health will build a first-of-its-kind, state, enterprise-wide data warehouse that will collect, consolidate, and organize data from multiple sources, and fully integrate Medicaid eligibility and claims data, for reporting and business process analysis. These services will support HCPF’s specific objectives including implementing a modern approach to data management. By integrating the vast collection of disparate data sources from across the state into a single data warehouse, the new system will support the Colorado Medical Assistance and related programs.

“We’re proud to have been selected by Colorado to help pioneer an innovative approach to achieving the triple aim of providing better health care, improving personal health status and lowering costs for all Coloradan Medicaid beneficiaries,” said Mike Boswood, Truven Health Analytics president and CEO. “This project will change the way patients, providers and officials can access and utilize vital health information to improve outcomes and enhance the client and provider experience.”

Truven Health will apply its vast analytical capabilities and data warehouse expertise to fully integrate Medicaid eligibility and claims data, provide groundbreaking analytics via an enhanced online portal, and provide services to support accountability and continuous improvement. The Truven Health Data Warehouse solution will allow for complete integration of data in a scalable and flexible system that offers HCPF the ability to evaluate programs and health benefit plans, and establish provider rates by forecasting utilization, cost, and caseload and modeling scenarios based on those analytics.

This Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing contract represents the continuation of a longstanding relationship and partnership with Truven Health to support the state’s current information efforts through the Colorado Medicaid Management Innovation and Transformation (COMMIT) project. Together, Truven Health and HCPF are committed to developing solutions that provide a consolidated analytical and reporting system for use across the Medicaid enterprise. Truven Health, with more than 8,500 customers across the healthcare industry including 30 Medicaid agencies, is uniquely able to bring best practices and proven tactics to HCPF. Truven Health has been a longtime resident and partner in Colorado and currently employs a staff of more than 330 professionals in Denver and has over 150 clients throughout the state.
