MainStay Appoints Senior Hires to Institutional Sales Team and Enhances Client Consulting Team

MainStay Furthers Commitment to the Institutional Intermediary Business

NEW YORK--()--MainStay Investments (“MainStay”), a New York Life Company, announced today that institutional investment industry veterans, Dana Hartwell and Douglas Dhom have joined the firm’s Institutional Intermediary Business as senior regional vice presidents in the Defined Contribution Investment Only (DCIO) practice. In addition, MainStay announces that it is building out a dedicated client consulting team for the DCIO community.

Mr. Hartwell’s career spans more than 20 years of sales and relationship management in the retirement markets, and includes deep expertise in DCIO. He joins MainStay from Hartford Funds, where he was head of National Accounts focused on defined contribution investments. Previously, Mr. Hartwell was senior vice president, Retirement Strategies, head of Platform Sales and Marketing, Natixis Global Asset Management, responsible for building Natixis’ DCIO operation into a $23 billion business. He has also held leadership roles at Charles Schwab & Co. and Fidelity Investments, and brings a wealth of experience with record keepers and consultants. Mr. Hartwell will be based in the Westwood, MA office, and cover the Eastern region of the U.S.

Mr. Dhom brings over 20 years of DCIO sales experience, which includes leading the development of a successful retirement business for Invesco. He joins MainStay from a 26 year career at Invesco, where he was most recently vice president, Institutional Business Development. In particular, Mr. Dhom was responsible for leading revenue expansion across institutional clients, representing some of the largest defined contribution and variable annuity platforms nationwide. Mr. Dhom will be based in Atlanta and cover the Central region of the U.S.

Mr. Hartwell and Mr. Dhom will join MainStay veteran Tom Smythe as business leaders on the DCIO sales team. Mr. Smythe has a career spanning 23 years and has been a key driver in the growth and success of MainStay’s DCIO business. Mr. Smythe will continue to be based in Denver, CO and will be focused on covering the Western region of the U.S.

Jeff Budd, director, MainStay, will lead the client consulting team, focused on providing superior client servicing and management, insight and consulting, with an overall responsibility to add value across the depth and breadth of MainStay’s client engagements in the DCIO space.
