ReSound® Presents at M-Enabling Summit

Discussion on Deaf or Hard of Hearing Apps Highlights Company’s Advancement of Smart Hearing

COPENHAGEN, Denmark--()--This week, ReSound, a leader in innovative hearing technologies, participated in the fourth annual M-Enabling Summit in Washington, D.C. to discuss how the company’s innovative hearing solutions are advancing accessibility options for people with hearing loss. Morten Hansen, Vice President of Partnerships & Connectivity, spoke on a panel yesterday about what ReSound is doing to promote personalization and connectivity through both device and app design.

The two-day M-Enabling Summit brings together global leaders who are developing life-changing applications for seniors and people of all abilities to share best practices and discuss the future of accessible and assistive mobile solutions. This year’s focus is Mobile Innovation: Smarter Living for All.

“ReSound believes in improving people’s lives by combining original thinking and design with solid technology and deep audiological insight. We’re thrilled to participate alongside such a well-respected group of technology leaders and to share how Smart Hearing advances accessibility for those who have hearing loss,” said Mr. Hansen.

Last year, ReSound introduced the game-changing ReSound LiNX™, the world’s first Made for iPhone® hearing aid, allowing users to stream sound directly to their hearing aids for the first time without the use of an intermediary device. The company built on the success of this device with the new ReSound LiNX2™, providing the most advanced, natural hearing experience to users looking to connect, interact, and engage with their world on equal footing as everyone else.

ReSound LiNX2 is the fourth premium family of hearing aids to come out of GN ReSound’s proprietary 2.4 GHz wireless platform, and meets 90 percent of hearing loss concerns. Offering a broader range of models and prices, ReSound LiNX2 includes Spatial Sense, a new feature offering improved spatial awareness. Wearers can experience rich, direct sound streaming from iPhone, iPad and iPod touch without the need for an additional device, allowing people to talk on the phone, make FaceTime calls, listen to music and even stream turn-by-turn directions directly through their hearing aids. And for the first time, people who prefer to wear custom molded, in-the-ear hearing aids can also enjoy Made for iPhone functionality.

Individuals have options for customizing their individual hearing experience based on personal preference through the ReSound Smart™ app, available for smartphones and Apple Watch. ReSound Smart allows users to:

  • Set preferred volume levels
  • Adjust treble and bass settings
  • Geo-tag frequently visited places – such as home, work, favorite restaurants and more – to automatically update profiles and adjust to specific acoustics
  • Employ the ‘Find My Hearing Aids’ function to pinpoint hearing aids if misplaced
  • Check hearing aid battery levels
  • Sync hearing aids with other ReSound devices (such as the ReSound Unite™ television streamer)

Users can find the ReSound Smart app by visiting the App Store and downloading the latest version (3.0.1). Users with Apple Watch will have automatic access to the app’s most popular features directly from their wrist. For more information, consumers and hearing professionals can experience the new benchmark in Smart Hearing by downloading the ReSound LiNX2 app in the App Store. The app allows people to experience the sound enhancing features of ReSound technology, explore the design features, and learn more about the functionalities directly from their mobile phones.

“ReSound is committed to enhancing accessibility for the hearing impaired population. We are honored to be regarded as a leader in providing mobile solutions to people with hearing loss,” said Anders Hedegaard, CEO of GN ReSound. “In an increasingly connected world, we are redefining what is possible for hearing aids through industry-leading technologies, giving people connectivity and the freedom to control their hearing experience.”
