Nedbank Transforms Business with Ariba

Leading financial services group invests in cloud-based applications and business network to standardize systems, digitize processes and run simple

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Complexity can stop a business in its tracks. Simplicity keeps things running. Recognizing this, Nedbank, one of the four largest banks in South Africa, has implemented the cloud-based applications and business network of Ariba®, an SAP Company. And on June 9 the company will discuss how it is leveraging them to drive innovation and growth across its operations during a mainstage presentation at Ariba LIVE Munich, the premier business commerce event set to take place June 8-10 at The Westin Grand Munich.

“Like many organizations in today's always-on, connected economy, Nedbank is focused on executing change programs that standardize global processes and enable our workforce to operate in a more simple and integrated fashion. And technology is a key enabler of this,” said Ian Fuller, Executive Head: Business Transformation, Nedbank. “Through Ariba, we have been able to standardize our systems, data and processes and fuel a new, more collaborative way of operating that has enabled us to reduce our costs, increase our efficiency and improve our performance.”

To drive its programs, Nedbank uses the sourcing and invoice management applications delivered on the Ariba Network, in conjunction with its SAP ERP system, to manage its procurement and financial processes, suppliers and spend – all in one location.

“ERP systems are maturing, and coupled with pressure on IT departments to consolidate and reduce support costs, there has been a shift to single systems being implemented across all functions,” notes Shiraz Sarang, Chief Procurement Officer, Nedbank. “With the integration of SAP and Ariba, we can manage our procurement and finance operations in a simple and coordinated way through a single interface.”

Used by nearly 2 million companies in 190 countries to transact over $750 billion in commerce on an annual basis, the Ariba Network is the world's largest, most global business-to-business trading platform. Using the network, businesses such as Nedbank can discover, connect and collaborate with their trading partners around the world anywhere, at any time from any application or device and manage everything from sourcing and orders to invoice and payment with greater speed and efficiency.

“Business today is more networked than ever and demands greater transparency and visibility. To drive it, innovative organizations are turning to solutions that not only simplify processes within the four walls, but between companies,” said Alex Atzberger, President, Ariba. “In embracing Ariba’s cloud-based offerings and business network, Nedbank is forging a new, more collaborative model with its business partners that provides a clear view into spend across business categories and brings value to the entire supply chain.”

Nedbank joins a blue-chip roster of companies that will present at Ariba LIVE Munich and share their insights on how networks are transforming business. Don’t miss out on this event – to register visit www.aribalive.com.
