How people eat and shop continues to change, based on an enormous range of factors, such as macroeconomic conditions, the make up of the U.S. shopper base, the move to good-for-you eating and how these shoppers feel about their economic situations.
 

In her presentation: “How America Eats: Consumer Eating Trends Driving Industry Growth,” Lyons Wyatt will cover IRI’s most recent consumer insights research on eating and shopping behaviors, with a particular focus on how the changing U.S. consumer landscape is impacting what and how consumers eat across the day. Her talk will focus in part on the opportunities for the industry to grow with millennials, baby boomers, and Hispanics based on their preferences and categories winning their vote now, as well as emerging trends that will drive growth during the next five years. Lyons Wyatt will share the implications of consumer preferences of nutrition, simplicity and size, and how those vary across the day.

The U.S. shopper base continues to undergo profound change. The purchasing power of boomers is still formidable, although on the decline, while millennials’ purchasing power continues to rise. In addition, a new generation, Gen Z, is emerging and will represent a potent force in the future.
