Student Aid Services Becomes Cegment, Inc., Expanding Enrollment Solutions That Engage an Audience of One

BOSTON--()--Student Aid Services, Inc., an innovative technology and services company serving the enrollment and financial aid needs of more than 335 U.S. colleges and universities, today celebrates becoming an independent business named Cegment, Inc. and relocating its headquarters to Boston under the leadership of Brad Baker, who assumes the CEO role effective immediately.

“Increasingly, colleges and universities appreciate that technology and innovative services can help them convey their value and affordability in a challenging world where there is greater sensitivity to student debt and more questioning of the return on education,” Baker said. “Our company provides unique student engagement solutions that can help increase an institution’s enrollment yields. By using our technology to individually interact and communicate with each prospective student, institutions are able to ‘segment’ their diverse audience so messaging, imagery, timing and delivery of personally relevant information can most optimally increase engagement.”

Expanded Suite of Engagement Services

For many years, the company has been at the forefront of student aid estimation and the nation’s leading provider of net price calculator technology. Now, with an expanded suite of services designed to engage the student on a personal and interactive level, the company is well placed to address the recruitment, financial education and retention needs of colleges and universities. Cegment’s suite of products now includes:

• Cost & Aid Estimation Utilities – including Net Price Calculators •

• Enhanced Aid Award Letters •

• College Affordability Plans •

• Personal Enrollment Planners •

• Career Pathways & Retention Plans •

• Data Analytics & Insight •

Baker has spent years in executive positions in the higher education enrollment industry including serving as the President of Student Aid Services, Inc. and as the Chief Operating Officer for the National Research Center for College & University AdmissionsTM (NRCCUA®). Prior to NRCCUA, Baker served in top executive roles for the employment and career-planning service Monster Worldwide, Inc. As an entrepreneur, Baker co-founded the advisory organization, Making It Count!, which was acquired by Monster in June 2001.

“In a competitive marketplace, we have found a way to highlight each client’s value and affordability by creating conversations with students on topics they care about,” Baker said. “This enhanced engagement results in a better-informed student, increased enrollment yield and improved student retention. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

The higher education industry at large is experiencing a number of challenges that are threatening overall enrollment numbers. Colleges and universities are facing a substantial increase in competition, driven by an increasingly price-sensitive audience. Many institutions struggle to communicate personal net cost with an appropriate demonstration of value to satisfy a discerning prospective student population. Traditional communication and marketing methods, which have produced results for many years, are simply less effective with this new “millennial” audience. Cegment’s suite of technologies and services is focused on helping institutions interact with students in a personalized manner while demonstrating both value and affordability.

“As our company has evolved, we have created industry-leading solutions that address much more than student aid, which is why we want to reintroduce ourselves as Cegment,” Baker said. “We have created yield-enhancing programs that produce measurable results for our clients. Our innovative, highly customized and personalized approach provides a fresh take on some longstanding practices. We are looking forward to sharing our vision with others.”

Coinciding with the unveiling of its new name, logo and tagline, Cegment has also introduced its redesigned website, http://www.cegment.com.
