Citi Wins Record Four Energy Risk Awards at 2015 Ceremony

LONDON--()--Citi has won four awards in the highly regarded Energy Risk annual awards, which were presented on May 12 at a dinner and ceremony in Houston, Texas. This is the first time any bank has won as many as four Energy Risk awards in a single year.

The Energy Risk awards celebrate excellence across global commodity markets. The four awards Citi won were for the 2015 commodity derivatives house of the year, oil and products house of the year, electricity house of the year and for deal of the year.

“Despite a broader retreat by banks, Citi has demonstrated continuing commitment to the commodities market in the past 18 months,” says Mark Pengelly, Editor of Energy Risk. “This has been demonstrated in the numerous books it has purchased from stricken rivals, as well as its willingness to provide liquidity in a variety of illiquid, long-dated and tricky-to-handle trades.”

The winners of the Energy Risk awards were determined by editorial choice after a rigorous pitch submission and interview process lasting from February to May 2015. Particular attention was paid by the editors to first hand feedback from clients.

“We are delighted and honoured that Citi commodities has been recognised by Energy Risk. There was strong competition this year not only from other banks but also commodity traders, so to have our efforts and client service acknowledged is particularly gratifying,” said global head of commodities Stuart Staley.”
