Starz Promotes Ken Segna to Senior Vice President, Original Programming

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--()--Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director for Starz, announced the promotion of Ken Segna to Senior Vice President, Original Programming.

Based in the company’s Beverly Hills office, Segna will continue to take the lead on new development and current productions including STARZ Original series “Power,” executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, creator and showrunner Courtney Kemp Agboh (Emmy® nominated for "The Good Wife"), Mark Canton, Randall Emmett and David Knoller; and “Survivor’s Remorse,” which LeBron James serves as an Executive Producer along with Maverick Carter, Paul Wachter, Hilton Smith, Victor Levin and Tom Werner, currently Chairman of the Boston Red Sox. Mike O’Malley, (Emmy®-nominated actor for his role on “Glee”) also serves as Executive Producer and writer for “Survivor’s Remorse.”

Segna will oversee the production of “The Girlfriend Experience,” a 13-part anthology series executive produced by Steven Soderbergh, Philip Fleishman and Gary Marcus; and “The One Percent,” a 10-episode drama series from Director/Writer/Executive Producer Alejandro González Iñárritu, Academy Award® winner for Best Director for “Birdman.” Fellow Academy Award winners for “Birdman” Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolás Giacabone and Armando Bo serve as writers/executive producers for “The One Percent” starring Ed Helms and Hilary Swank.

Segna will also manage the production of “Counterpart,” a supernatural thriller drama series starring Oscar® winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) with Oscar-nominated Morten Tyldum (Imitation Game) set to direct the first two episodes.

Segna also serves as the development lead on STARZ Original Series “American Gods,” FremantleMedia North America’s (FMNA) adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed urban fantasy novel “American Gods.”

“Ken is an incredibly valued member of the original programming team who has been a key contributor in expanding STARZ Original series programming,” said Zlotnik. “Ken is in great company with fellow Original Programming SVPs Marta Fernandez and Karen Bailey as Starz continues to ramp up it's remarkable programming growth.”

Segna has advanced quickly through various positions during his tenure at Starz, serving most recently as VP, Original Programming. Prior to joining Starz as an executive assistant in 2010 , Segna was an assistant at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and an independent producer of music videos, commercials and the feature documentary, "Ain't in It for My Health: A Film about Levon Helm."

Segna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Symbolic Systems with a minor in Studio Art from Stanford University. He also received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Production from the University of Southern California.
