AOL.com and Churchill Downs Kick Off #HomeStretchSweeps Sweepstakes

NEW YORK--()--AOL.com is excited to announce the #HomeStretchSweeps, a unique social media sweepstakes in partnership with Churchill Downs Racetrack LLC, the official home of the Kentucky Derby. The sweepstakes will send one lucky winner on the ultimate weekend getaway to the 142nd Kentucky Derby in 2016.

"The Kentucky Derby is a legendary event and AOL.com is excited to partner with Churchill Downs Racetrack to create an opportunity for users to put their own spin on time-honored Kentucky Derby traditions," said Jenny Depper, Head of AOL.com Entertainment Programming. "We're committed to opening up the content experience to millions of users, regardless of whether they're able to attend a live event."

How #HomeStretchSweeps Works

To enter, contestants are asked to show how they’d announce the final moments of the legendary Kentucky Derby through any of the following three methods:

1. Submit a video calling the final seconds of the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby from 2012 on Instagram, Vine or Twitter, using the hashtag #HomeStretchSweeps. The video is posted on AOL.com.

2. Tweet why the @KentuckyDerby is your favorite sporting event of the year in 90 characters or less, including the hashtag #HomeStretchSweeps and a link back to the rules page on AOL.com.

3. Show off your commentating skills at this year’s Kentucky Derby! AOL.com will be live at the 2015 Kentucky Derby asking attendees to show us their best commentating skills using phone videos and tweeting it from the grounds.

Top entries will be featured on AOL.com and potentially shown on the World’s Largest 4K video board at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day. Participation rules allow unlimited entries per person and the winner will be selected at random.

The Big Prize

One lucky winner will win the ultimate Kentucky Derby weekend; complete with two VIP tickets to the 2016 Kentucky Derby and an incredible travel experience. The winner will also be featured on AOL.com.

“Churchill Downs is thrilled to work with AOL.com to share a unique part of the Kentucky Derby experience with both new and long-time fans,” said Jeff Koleba, Vice President of Marketing at Churchill Downs Racetrack. “Calling the home stretch of the Kentucky Derby is not an easy task and we can’t wait to see the talent brought in from the #HomeStretchSweeps sweepstakes.”
