Autotask Conducts Largest Global Managed Services Market Study

More than 1,800 Respondents Say Security, Reliability and Customer Service Matter Most to End Clients

LONDON--()--Managed services providers (MSPs) are more focused than ever on managing endpoints and using remote monitoring and management (RMM) solutions to increase visibility and scale to meet the ongoing demands of managing cloud-based solutions, according to a new Autotask survey of MSPs.

The survey found that 62% of MSPs are already managing between 100 and 2,500 endpoints and expect this to grow exponentially. For this reason, 54% of respondents are increasing their focus on endpoints.

“Increased adoption of cloud-based services and the proliferation of devices and endpoints have made meeting client reliability and security requirements even more complex,” said Ian van Reenen, General Manager RMM Product Engineering, Autotask Corp. “As the Managed Service market becomes increasingly competitive, the end user customer experience will become paramount.”

Van Reenen added, “If MSPs can’t deliver a service down to every endpoint, regardless of network, location, device, they put the quality of service at risk. By building out their managed services portfolios with scalable endpoint management along with other cloud-related services, MSPs can more effectively meet a client’s evolving strategic needs and become a valued partner.”

Key Findings from the Market Study:

  • Networking and projects still account for nearly 40% of MSP revenues for about three out of four respondents.
  • 68% ranked reliability as the key criteria for selecting a remote monitoring and endpoint management solution.
  • Backup and recovery is the number 1 cloud service for potential revenue followed by security and office productivity apps.

The Autotask 2015 Managed Services Market Study was conducted by the research firm Decision Tree Labs and included responses from 1,800 managed service providers in North America, Europe and around the world. It is one of the largest known MSP studies to date.
