DURHAM, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), an independent provider of broad-based testing and standards conformance services for the networking industry, announced today the expansion of the Home Networking Consortium (HNC). HNC is now providing the broadband and consumer industry a one stop shop for all products that require IPv6 Ready CE Router Logo, Broadband Forum TR-069 (BBF.069), Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) Certification, and RVU Alliance Certification testing.
By adding DLNA and RVU testing, HNC is streamlining the testing process for their members, making testing faster, more efficient, and more cost-effective. These services reduce time to market for customer premise equipment (CPE) and ensure service providers that devices in the home connect to the networks of the future. These new testing services will be offered with the Home Networking Consortium membership on May 1, 2015.

The most recent testing service to be offered by the newly expanded Home Network Consortium is VidiPath Certification, which falls within the scope of DLNA. VidiPath allows consumers to effortlessly access cable or content subscriptions. VidiPath replaces current technology, which often runs into issues such as authentication problems or service restrictions. DLNA has worked with all of the top service providers as well as the top consumer electronic companies to bring end users this technology.
Certification test programs give service providers and equipment manufacturers confidence that their equipment matches industry standards for the connected home. DLNA Certification ensures that two media streaming devices will interoperate smoothly for an uninterrupted end user experience. Furthermore, it also provides higher confidence that sharing personal and subscription TV content conforms to the DLNA standards. RVU Certification provides a consistent television display in the home that does not require the use of a receiver for use.
The BBF.069 Certification program certifies that TR-069, which allows ISPs to remotely manage millions of home networks, is properly implemented on home gateways and end user devices. The IPv6 Ready CE Router Logo provides users with the confidence that home gateways properly operate using IPv6 addressing. IPv6 is the next generation internet protocol that provides unique addresses for every device on a network, which is critical for the future of connected homes.
In addition to benefiting HNC’s member companies, this expansion also brings together the six industry forums that are involved with HNC, and allows the UNH-IOL to continue to provide a neutral environment to foster multivendor interoperability and the improvement of the consumer and home networking industry.
