Press Invitation: Top Startups From the Heart of Europe Pitching to Silicon Valley Investors

--()--We4Startups and SVForum are delighted to present an exciting event: Top Startups from the Heart of Europe Pitching to Silicon Valley Investors at GSVlabs in Redwood City, California, on Thursday, April 23rd. Tickets and more information, including speakers, panelists, and startup descriptions, can be found on the event page.

12 of the hottest tech startups from the Visegrad region of Central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, the “Visegrad Four“) will be pitching to a panel of expert Silicon Valley investors and entrepreneurs, including Angel investor Lea Bajc, Mohanjit Jolly of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, John Wolpert of IBM Watson, Fadi Bishara of Blackbox, and Bill Reichert of Garage Technology Ventures. The evening will begin with opening remarks from Miroslav Lajčák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Karla Wursterová, Executive Director of the International Visegrad Fund, and Kenneth Ryan, Managing Partner of KPMG.

“Central Europe is home to some extraordinary technical talent, and now it is emerging as a thriving startup ecosystem," stated Bill Reichert, Managing Director of Garage Technology Ventures. “The Next Big Thing is not about any particular technology or sector — it’s about the globalization of innovation across every sector. That’s what I saw when I visited the region earlier this year, and that’s what we’re going to see when the Visegrad Four entrepreneurs visit the Valley in late April.”

We4Startups is a pioneer project, bringing the startup ecosystems of the Visegrad region together for the first time. Petra Lipnická, Sovva, lead project organizer, stated that "it is great to see the first-ever joint project of Visegrad countries called We4Startups emerging in Silicon Valley. We are bringing top 12 startups from the region to showcase their qualities and get inspired by the world’s most successful tech companies. Our sincere belief is that this event will turn into a long-term initiative."

“SVForum is excited to partner with We4Startups, and to host a great opportunity for young startups from Central Europe,” said CEO Adiba Barney. “This event combines key elements of SVForum’s mission: to both provide opportunities for entrepreneurs, and open new channels for in the global startup community. We’re looking forward to hearing from a great group of companies with innovative ideas to bring to the startup marketplace—both in Europe and worldwide.”

The event will begin at 5:00 pm, and conclude at 9:00 pm. Tickets are available both online and at the door. Attendees can follow and tweet the action on social media with #We4Startups.
