Tamr Named a Cool Vendor in Gartner’s “Cool Vendors for Data Integration and Data Quality, 2015” Report

Provides Technology for Automated Mapping of Enterprise Information Assets and Relationships across Data Silos

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--()--Tamr, Inc., today announced that it has been recognized by Gartner as a Cool Vendor in Data Integration and Data Quality for 2015, in its report published on April 8, 2015. Tamr offers an enterprise data-unification platform that dramatically reduces the time and effort required to connect and integrate diverse, siloed data for business analytics.

“The escalating complexity and diversity resulting from proliferating internal and external, big and small data sources makes it increasingly difficult for organizations to understand the information most relevant to drive forward their digital business agenda,” according to the Gartner report authors. “Organizations have an increasing need to understand not only the data within these diverse data sources, but also the relationships across them.”

“The Tamr Platform is delivering solid ROI for customers like GE, Novartis, Roche, Thomson Reuters and Toyota Motor Europe, and we believe being named a Gartner Cool Vendor validates our approach,” said Nidhi Aggarwal, strategy lead for Tamr. “By connecting all their data sources efficiently using Tamr, customers are achieving operational savings and strategic business value from customer data integration, procurement data unification, clinical data standardization and other use cases.”

Tamr combines machine learning algorithms with collective human insight to identify sources, understand relationships and curate the massive variety of siloed data.

Advanced machine learning algorithms automatically match attributes and entities across the full range of data sources, whether large or small; structured, semi- or unstructured; internal or third party ─ often accomplishing up to 90% of the task without human intervention. When human intervention is necessary, Tamr generates questions for data experts, aggregates responses and feeds them back into the system. This feedback enables Tamr to continuously improve its accuracy and speed over time.

The Gartner report authors also offered this recommendation: “Explore the limits of automation and machine-learning in data discovery within big data sources, and the data relationships across them, to address the exponential rise in big and small data sources.”

The Gartner Cool Vendor recognition caps a year of awards and accolades for Tamr since it launched in May 2014, including:
