Seventh Annual Employee Wellbeing Month Shines Spotlight on Workplace Wellbeing

Sponsors invite organizations worldwide to join the celebration this June as Proud Supporters

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--()--In June 2015, leading companies will come together to participate in the seventh annual Employee Wellbeing Month (Twitter hashtag #EWM15), a month-long initiative designed to help business leaders learn new ways to engage employees in healthy habits and lifestyles. Organizations interested in participating can pledge their support for Employee Wellbeing Month, which promotes and showcases how companies can help to improve employees’ wellbeing and engagement. In 2014, more than 200 companies and 70,000 employees participated in the initiative.

Workplace culture plays a critical role in helping to create healthy employees, driving employee productivity and engagement, and ultimately leading to a stronger business. Launched as National Employee Wellness Month in 2009 by Virgin Pulse, in partnership with the Strategies to Overcome and Prevent (STOP) Obesity Alliance, Employee Wellbeing Month is sponsored by these organizations along with the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease and WorldatWork.

This year, organizations are invited to once again pledge support by becoming Proud Supporters of Employee Wellbeing Month 2015. Proud Supporters will be able to:

  • Lend Support: Lend their company name and logo to support the month. Both will be featured on the Employee Wellbeing Month site and in related campaign activities throughout the month.
  • Promote Employee Wellbeing: Plan at least one healthy activity at their workplace this June.
  • Be Recognized: Employee Wellbeing Month is covered by national and trade media outlets every year.
  • Join the Challenge (optional): Companies that choose to join will go toe-to-toe against other organizations worldwide to see who racks up the most activity.

New in 2015, Virgin Pulse’s Employee Wellbeing Month challenge will be open for even more companies to join. Physical activity is a major factor in employee wellbeing, and this year’s challenge provides an opportunity for companies to motivate employees to be more active during the month. Employees will be able to use their personal devices and mobile apps compatible with the Virgin Pulse platform to measure and track their activity, and the top-ranking teams will receive a donation to the charity of their choice.

All Proud Supporters of Employee Wellbeing Month will get a free toolkit featuring a variety of resources and ideas to promote their organization’s leadership and support of this important initiative with their workforce, community, and local media.
