CARY, N.C--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MercuryGate International, a global provider of cloud-based transportation management solutions, and Atlanta Technical College, winner of the 2012 Purdue Award for excellence in technical education, announced plans to offer students in the Supply Chain Management program access to the company’s suite of TMS applications. As a member of the MercuryGate University program, Atlanta Technical College will be able provide include the software in its Supply Chain Management curriculum at not cost to students.
The manager of the university’s Supply Chain Management program, Kemith Thompson, plans to have MercuryGate’s Transportation Management System in classrooms this May. Students pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, and ultimately a career in the supply chain and logistics industry, will learn how to solve realistic business problems through a series of labs and exercises using the company’s software. Educators will also be able to use MercuryGate TMS for research purposes and related activities.
Atlanta Technical College has joined the list of universities nationwide that are active participants in the MercuryGate University program, including Auburn University, the University of Maryland, the University of South Florida, and Tuskegee University. Students in these programs are gaining valuable hands-on experience with technology once reserved for large corporations. Some of the students who have participated have already received internships based on the knowledge and understanding of technology that they have gained through the program.
