DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As the number of public-sector jobs continues to increase in Texas, more organizations require training and preparation to meet objectives and employers’ needs. Recognizing this, CPS HR Consulting decided it needed to better meet the needs of its Texas clients by hiring its newest, native-Texan team member Josh Smith.
As Principal HR Consultant, Smith will both deliver consulting services as well as develop and maintain new client relationships in the state. Spending the last seven years as HR Director for the cities of Schertz and Marble Falls, Texas, he has a keen understanding of the issues and challenges facing public sector HR professionals in the state today.
“Josh has delivered proven results in HR strategy, performance management, assessment, testing, employee engagement, compensation and recruiting among other areas,” said Jerry Greenwell, CEO of CPS HR. “As the demand for services increases in Texas, we wanted to provide our clients someone with local resources who has a strong understanding of local needs.”
The state added 392,900 jobs overall in 2014 and specifically in the government sector, job growth increased 1.3 percent according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
“Texas is booming with employment and the public sector is in need of trained HR professionals,” said Smith. “I can’t wait to begin working with my clients.”
Smith holds a master’s degree in Industrial/Organization Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas State University. Additionally, Smith received his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, which is a disciplined, data-driven approach for eliminating defects in work processes.
