GE Showcases RailConnect 360™ Software at the Annual American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association Show

ATLANTA--()--GE Transportation (NYSE: GE), a global provider of innovative rail products, software, and services, will feature its latest RailConnect™ 360 suite of software solutions for the rail industry at the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) show March 28 – 31.

Gary Griswell, Customer Experience Leader at GE Transportation and the 2015 ASLRRA Convention Chair said, “I am honored to be chosen to preside over this premier annual event for the short line and regional railroad industry. It’s especially gratifying that attendees will see how GE is revolutionizing the industry with RailConnect 360 software. The efficient, scalable, and secure platform enables real-time decision making powered by insightful data analytics that railroaders need to meet day-to-day and future demands.”

RailConnect 360 software leverages GE’s Industrial Internet Predix ™ platform developed at the Software Center of Excellence in Silicon Valley where GE has invested $1 billion in industrial software development. This investment has sparked a software-led movement within GE to connect machines, business operations and people – bringing the Industrial Internet to life.

Today’s railroads need customizable and secure industrial software that unites the rail ecosystem and provides increased visibility into their railroad business operations. GE’s RailConnect 360 enables this through software solutions that provide data-driven insights, improving the utilization of assets, productivity of operations and supply chain, and the velocity of rail networks.

Show attendees can take an interactive virtual tour of the RailConnect 360 landscape in booth 403. A similar version is available on the GE Transportation website. Some of the key technologies on display that can help solve complex rail challenges include:

  • RailConnect Advanced Analytics, a powerful Business Intelligence (BI) offering designed to provide business insights, support decision-making, and drive business performance.
  • RailConnect mCrew, a mobile software solution for train crews to receive switching instructions and report car movement activity in the field with an improved User Interface.
  • RailDOCS Wayside Asset Management System plans, manages, and optimizes the daily operations of railroad maintenance departments. RailDOCS is used to maintain and configure assets on location in the field, and complete timely tests and inspections to comply with federal and railroad requirements.
