LILLE, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For its 9th edition, SIFER - the only international rail industry trade show in France - will be playing host to major industry contractors, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, sub-contractors, public transport authorities and operators from 24-26 March 2013, in Lille. The event will provide a unique opportunity to discover industry know-how and innovations in a number of areas: rolling stock, railway infrastructure, passenger transport technologies and rail vehicle interiors.
This show opens in the midst of what is widely acknowledged as a pivotal phase for stakeholders in the French rail market. Confronted with a climate that is sluggish at home, yet buoyant on the international scene, industry actors will all be looking forward this event to explore new avenues for the future.
Cooperation and globalisation will be prominent themes at SIFER. A significant part of the exhibition programme will be devoted to these issues. For its first attendance at SIFER, Business France will be hosting meetings as well as an information workshop on the Southern African, Indian and Japanese rail markets. And in an event aimed specifically at SMEs and SMIs, the French Railway Industries Association will be organising a conference on international business opportunities.
SIFER 2015 will be hosting 7 French regions in the exhibition's regional pavilions. And for the first time, delegations from the Alsace Region and the Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency (AWEX) will also be taking part in the show.
With each passing edition of SIFER, the rail infrastructure sector has
established a steadily growing presence. Indeed, since the introduction
of this space in 2007, the number of exhibitors has practically doubled.
This year, stakeholders in this sector alone will represent close to a
quarter of the event's exhibitors.
This trend is a clear reflection of the state of the rail market today. According to the latest results published by French Rail Industry Federation, infrastructure is one of the few growth areas in the French rail industry (up 17.7% between 2012 and 2013).
For the 7th year running, SIFER will be held in the heart of the highest-ranking region in France in terms of rail industry activity.
SIFER will host 420 exhibitors from 20 countries. More than 5,000 visitors attended, 25% of which came from abroad.
