BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--My Eye Media is expanding its operations in Japan with the announcement of offices in Tokyo, together with the promotion of longtime technical services staffer Akiko Sakamoto and the hiring of Japanese subtitling and dubbing specialist Masafumi Mori.
My Eye Media CEO and founder Michael Kadenacy said the changes are in line with the company’s strategy of global expansion as it continues to build its worldwide technical workforce.
“We’re applying the lessons we’ve learned in our long history of providing Japanese DVD and Blu-ray quality assurance services to our customers,” Kadenacy said. “We will leverage this experience as we continue to offer top-flight OTT services in Japan and other countries as streaming content proliferates in the worldwide marketplace.”
Sakamoto, who began her long tenure with My Eye Media at the company’s world headquarters in Burbank, was promoted to Manager of Quality Assurance Services and is now based at the company’s Tokyo office.
Mori has more than 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He has worked extensively in Japanese subtitling, translation and quality control and has lectured frequently on these subjects in the United States. He joins the company as Director of International Quality Assurance and will be stationed in Burbank.
My Eye Media also announced it has entered into an agreement with Japanese Visualmedia Translation Academy (JVTA), the premier translation college in Japan, to provide Japanese-language technicians who will go through My Eye Media’s rigorous and comprehensive quality assurance training. Under the agreement, My Eye Media will develop QA curriculum that will be offered at the academy, with internships at My Eye Media awarded to the most promising graduates.
Kadenacy said My Eye Media would be forging new relationships with locally based international content providers and expanding into those markets in the months ahead.
