NCKU Hosts Orientation for New International Business Students

TAINAN, Taiwan--()--The Institute of International Management (IIMBA) recently welcomed the latest batch of prospective business masters here at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU).

The IIMBA is known as one of the most culturally diverse programs here at NCKU, and this semester’s group upholds that reputation.

Some of the countries represented in the newest batch include France, Indonesia, Italy, Mongolia, the United States, and Vietnam. To make the transition to life here at NCKU easier, the IIMBA student council hosts an orientation for the new students every semester.

IIMBA Director Dr. Jeng-Chung Victor Chen on behalf of the institute extended his warm welcome to the new members. He said “we are proud to bring in these latest additions to IIMBA family, and look forward to a wonderful semester together.”

Canadian student Carl Mitchell who served as Student Council President said, “Welcome and congratulations on being accepted into the IIMBA program at NCKU. This is one of the larger Spring Batches with 20 students joining us this semester.”

He also said, “The reputation of the school and the program is growing as we can see from the diverse group we have this spring, with not only students from the ASEAN countries but also 25% of our new students coming from Europe and the USA.”

New student Claudia Deponi from Italy said, “The orientation was very nice, I especially enjoyed meeting so many new people there.”

As the student leader, Mitchell offered his advice saying, “Take pride in knowing that you are now parts of a successful group all working towards a common goal of continuous improvement.”

“Work hard, play hard and enjoy the journey over the next two years as you work towards completing your Master’s thesis,” he added.

This orientation was conducted over lunch and included introductions to and a warm welcome from the department faculty, staff, and students.

Advice on life here in Taiwan was also given, topics ranging from the best places to eat, to how to get around both the island and city and more.
